Pre-AP Algebra I → AP Precalculus

The first step of your AP Precalculus → AP Calculus pathway — the same SofAI math expert and modeling-first reasoning.

What this course builds toward AP Precalculus

  • Fluency with linear, quadratic, and exponential functions
  • Modeling real-world contexts with functions
  • Reasoning, justification, and precise notation
  • Algebraic foundations for Precalculus and Calculus

Same SofAI expert, start to finish: Dr. Theo Raman ∫ coaches both this Pre-AP course and AP Precalculus, so the mentor, method, and rigor carry straight through.

Dr. Theo Raman

AP Mathematics Reasoning and FRQ Coach

I can help you understand the idea behind each procedure, avoid notation traps, and write FRQ solutions that earn reasoning points. I also understand this course's Score 5 path: State what the derivative, integral, function, or model means in context. Write units and intervals.

Section CUC A‑G Requirement

Mathematics — 3 years required (4 strongly recommended)

Must cover elementary and advanced algebra and two-/three-dimensional geometry. A geometry course or integrated math with sufficient geometry content is required. A 4th year of math is strongly recommended for STEM fields.

Why This Matters for College Admission

Math is the most heavily weighted subject for STEM admissions. The 4th year (Pre-Calc, Calculus, or Statistics) is expected at competitive UCs and signals college-readiness.

What You'll Learn

Solve linear equations, inequalities, and systems of equations

Graph linear and quadratic functions and identify key features

Factor polynomials and apply the quadratic formula

Understand exponent rules and work with radical expressions

Interpret and build mathematical models from real-world data

Build algebraic reasoning skills required for Geometry and Algebra II
