Terms of Service

Effective date: January 1, 2025 · Last updated: January 1, 2025

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using The VR School platform. These terms govern your access to and use of all services provided by The VR School, including enrollment, coursework, the student portal, VR labs, and our media publication.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using The VR School platform, website, or any associated services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must also agree to these terms on your behalf. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service immediately.

2. Description of Service

The VR School is a WASC-accredited virtual reality high school offering UC A-G approved courses, AI curriculum, and immersive learning experiences to students in grades 6–12 globally. The Service includes our website, student dashboard, course platform, VR labs, media publication, and any affiliated tools or applications.

3. Enrollment and Accounts

To access courses and student features, you must create an account and complete enrollment. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to promptly update that information if it changes. The VR School reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Academic Integrity

Students are expected to complete all coursework, assessments, and projects independently unless otherwise specified. Plagiarism, cheating, unauthorized collaboration, or misrepresentation of work is strictly prohibited and may result in course failure, removal from the program, and notation on academic records. The VR School uses automated and manual review to detect academic integrity violations.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the Service — including but not limited to course materials, VR simulations, videos, text, graphics, software, and trademarks — is the property of The VR School or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without prior written permission from The VR School. Student-created work remains the intellectual property of the student, though The VR School may use anonymized examples for educational and marketing purposes with consent.

6. Payments and Refunds

Tuition and fees are due in accordance with your enrollment agreement. Payment plans may be available — contact admissions for details. Refund eligibility is determined by your enrollment agreement and the date of withdrawal relative to the academic term. All refund requests must be submitted in writing to registrar@thevrschool.org. The VR School does not provide refunds for completed coursework or issued credits.

7. Code of Conduct

All users of the Service are expected to engage respectfully with fellow students, faculty, and staff. Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or any form of abusive behavior is prohibited. This applies to all communication channels including the student portal, community forums, live sessions, and any other Service feature. Violations may result in immediate account suspension and referral to appropriate authorities.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in the Privacy Policy. The VR School complies with applicable student privacy laws including FERPA and COPPA.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The VR School does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that the results obtained from use of the Service will be accurate or reliable. Your use of the Service is at your sole risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The VR School shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to The VR School in the twelve months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to These Terms

The VR School reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Los Angeles County, California, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
