UC A-G approved Precalculus course delivered fully online. Covers polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, plus parametric equations and vectors. Bridges Algebra 2 and AP Calculus. Prepares students for AP Precalculus.
Mathematics — 3 years required (4 strongly recommended)
Must cover elementary and advanced algebra and two-/three-dimensional geometry. A geometry course or integrated math with sufficient geometry content is required. A 4th year of math is strongly recommended for STEM fields.
UC Honors Designation
AP Calculus AB/BC scores of 3–5 satisfy two years of the math requirement. AP Precalculus (score 4–5) also satisfies two years.
Why This Matters for College Admission
Math is the most heavily weighted subject for STEM admissions. The 4th year (Pre-Calc, Calculus, or Statistics) is expected at competitive UCs and signals college-readiness.
Develop computational thinking skills: decomposition, abstraction, and algorithms
Write, debug, and document code in industry-relevant programming languages
Understand data structures, sorting algorithms, and complexity analysis
Apply mathematics (discrete math, statistics, or calculus) to computing problems
Build working software projects with version control and collaborative workflows
Explore career pathways in software engineering, data science, and AI/ML
