From visionary concept to transformative reality, explore our past, present, and future of reimagining education.

WASC Accredited Excellence

Our Present

Today, The VR School stands as a WASC-accredited institution, achieving our founding goal right on schedule for the May 26, 2025 tenth anniversary of Stanford2025. Our journey from concept to accredited reality demonstrates the power of visionary thinking and persistent execution.

2020
Congressional Funding
Congress awards The VR School more than US$1 million as the first Nonpublic School to receive federal funding because it served a significant proportion of First Generation Low Income students. Dr. Freedom Cheteni commits to using those funds for technology and space at 520 Lasuen Mall where students get targeted support in this Open Loop model.
2023
Campus Expansion & CVC Partnership
New global campuses established as the need for both physical and metaverse campuses increase to support our growing populi. Partnership with Foothill College California Virtual Campus established 116 home campuses in California, an initiative funded by a grant memorialized at https://cvc.edu/ allowing all our students access to over 10,000 courses for dual enrollment.
2024
Global Expansion & AP Partnership
New global campuses established in China and Singapore due to student need with the support of the KIEDC governing board for the Open Loop Research University. VR expands partnership with College Board offering all AP courses and develops a plan to have a test site at the Stanford and China campuses for May 2025 testing.
2025
WASC Accreditation & A.I Advancement
Full accreditation achieved on Stanford2025's 10th anniversary and Level II A.I Code application submitted to College Board.

Philosophical Foundations

Dr. Ken Taylor's Vision for Education

Our admissions philosophy is deeply influenced by Stanford Professor Kenneth A. Taylor's groundbreaking work on open learning and philosophical inquiry.

Context Is All Important

Dr. Taylor's exploration of context in philosophical inquiry provides a framework for our holistic admissions approach, where we consider each student's unique background and potential.

Dr. Taylor's philosophical approach emphasizes that education should be a transformative journey that develops not just knowledge, but wisdom. At The VR School, we've integrated this vision into our admissions process, looking beyond traditional metrics to identify students with the curiosity, creativity, and character to thrive in our innovative learning environment.
